Disney World Theme Park Tickets

Congratulations you are going on vacation at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Now you have to decide which tickets you should, who you should buy them from and how you can get them cheap. This is not an easy task. Disney calls their tickets Magic Your Way Passes.

This is because Disney gives you alot of options on which kinds of tickets you can purchase. First you need to decide a few things. How many days will you be going to a theme park? Do you want just enough admissions for this vacation? Are you going to be visiting the water parks or Disney Quest? Most of all what is your budget?
You start out with a Base Ticket. You can get 1-10 days on a Base Ticket. Then you need to decide which options you will be adding on. These are described on the right. There are three options:
  • Park Hopper
  • No Expiration
  • Water Park & Fun (plus days)
If you choose all three then you will be purchasing a Premium ticket. The prices are determined by how many days you are purchasing and which options you add on. Therefore a Base Ticket would be a one theme park per day, no theme park hopping, no pluses days and will expire 14 days from first use.Once you learn the terminology for all these options then you will be able to figure out how much your theme park tickets will cost you for your vacation.
Here are the number of admissions with the Water Park Fun & More Option:
  • 1-3 day tickets get 3 extra visits
  • 4 & 5 day tickets get 4 extra visits
  • 6 day tickets get 5 extra visits
  • 7-10 day tickets get 6 extra visits

As you can see it pays to purchase more tickets at a time. If you will be visiting the Water parks and/or DisneyQuest at least twice, this is definitely a good deal.

Prices vary and are subject to change at any time. Think ahead about future vacations and this will save you money.

Annual Passes are a great thing. However, you must calculate the cost. Sometimes they are the most economical choice. If you are going to be going to the Walt Disney World theme parks for more than 11 days in a year, an Annual Pass is well worth considering. First decide which Annual Pass is good for you.

The Annual Pass entitles you to unlimited admission and hopping privileges to all 4 theme parks for 1 year. You also get complimentary parking at each theme park lots. There are many other passholder benefits.

The Premium Annual Pass entitles you to unlimited admission and hopping privileges to all 4 theme parks and unlimited admission to DisneyQuest, Pleasure Island, Disney's water parks (Blizzard Beach & Typhoon Lagoon) and Disney's Wide World of Sports. You will also recieve complimentary parking at each theme park lot.

Annual Passes can only be purchased through Disney. There is no way to purchase it through a discounted vendor. The pass is good for 366 days. You get an extra day on them. ***So if you take annual vacation to Walt Disney World, just make it a little earlier the second year, and you can use the previous year's pass for next year's vacation.***

Some of the other benefits of having an Annual Pass are limited edition pins, ticket benefits to Pleasure Island, DisneyQuest and the water parks, discounts on miniature golf, discounts at AMC Theatres Pleasure Island 24, discounts to specially ticketed events at the Magic Kingdom Park, merchandise discounts, tours discounted, sports & recreation discounts and then there is the dining discounts and room discounts.

Dining discounts are around 10% with the Annual Pass, however, annual passholders can purchase the Disney Dining Experience Membership at $25 off the regular price (this is only offered to Florida Residents and annual passholders). By purchasing this you will recieve 20% off food and beverages at over 70 different participating restaurants on Disney property. My family and I have been using this on our vacations for the past couple of years and believe me it has saved us alot of money.

Room discounts are another benefit. Periodically Disney offers Passholder rates at select Walt Disney World hotels and Vacation Club Resorts. There is usually a limited number of rooms available at this rate. However, if you can get one the discount can be as much as 45% off Deluxe Resorts. We have used this on our Disney World vacations and this has more than paid for my Annual pass.

There is alot to decide when choosing which tickets to purchase. Bottom line do your homework. You can save alot of money by searching for deals. Since, Molly Mouse is not a licensed vendor for tickets I do not fee comfortable putting exact prices on our website. However, I have included some links of reputable sites that offer great deals for purchasing tickets.

Vacation Money Saving Tips
*Purchasing your tickets outside of Disney can be very advantageous. If you plan on never enjoying a Disney vacation again then only buy what you will use and do not purchase the expiration option.

* The more days you buy the less you pay per admission. Ticket prices typically increase annually, however, this year saw two price increases. Buy next year's tickets at this year's prices.

*Purchase the "No Expiration Option". If something unexpected should happen you can use your pass in the future. If you do not purchase this option your unused days on your tickets will expire within 14 days from first use of the ticket.

*If you want to go to more than one park in a day then choose your "Park Hopper Option". This is especially good for the parks that close earlier (Animal Kingdom)

*If you want to go to some of the water parks, DisneyQuest or Pleasure Island then you need the "Water Park Fun & More Option". When you purchase this option a certain set number of admissions to the water parks, Pleasure Island, Wide World of Sports and DisneyQuest are attached to your ticket. How many admissions you get is determined by how many days you purchased on your Base Ticket.

*If you decide you would like all three options then you will be purchasing a premium ticket that includes "no expiration", "park hopper" and "water park fun & more" options.
